School Based Programs
Build a stronger community through school-based mentorships
Our school-based mentoring program matches adult volunteers with children in need of a supportive relationship and school work assistance. Individual volunteers mentor a child at school and also in the community during the summer. Volunteers make a one-year commitment to the program. School matches are invited to participate in all Kids ‘n Kinship hosted events and activities
Quality Time
Volunteers spend a half hour per week with the child at school during the school year, providing positive attention, assisting with school work and modeling the importance of doing well in school. During the summer months, the mentor and child will get together weekly for activities such as picnics, going to the library, attending sporting events, hobbies or going to the movies. Volunteer may involve their family during the summer mentoring.

As the year progressed, my student’s confidence has grown in interacting with other students and teachers and has spilled over into becoming more confident tackling academic tasks in the classroom. This bond they have is wonderful to see!
