As the new Executive Director of Kids ‘n Kinship, a youth mentoring program in Dakota County, I have embarked on a transformative journey over the past year. Stepping into this role after a distinguished 30-year tenure by my predecessor, I have been invigorated by the challenges and opportunities that come with leading an organization dedicated to connecting young people aged 5-16 with mentors.

Returning to the front lines of youth work has been a deeply rewarding experience for me. From my very first day at Kids ‘n Kinship, I dove headfirst into the vibrant world of youth mentorship. With events like Rick’s Bike Sale, Chat groups, CEM Ride, and Gala looming on the horizon, I quickly realized that it was all hands on deck, requiring a collaborative spirit and a strong sense of community.

Navigating the complexities of transitioning into this leadership role while juggling a myriad of responsibilities has been both challenging and fulfilling. From managing programs and engaging with participants to building relationships with staff, volunteers, and community leaders, I have embraced each task with enthusiasm and dedication.

One of the most exciting aspects of this leadership transition for me has been the opportunity to connect with people on a deeper level and discover what drives their passions. By encouraging my team to bring their whole selves to work and exploring new avenues for collaboration, we have been able to revitalize the organization and foster a culture of inclusivity and creativity.

Throughout the highs and lows of the past year, I have learned valuable lessons, forged meaningful friendships, and cultivated a profound sense of purpose. With unwavering energy and a commitment to ongoing growth, I eagerly anticipate the future. I am dedicated to learning from those around me and fostering genuine connections as we work together to make a significant impact on the youth of Dakota County.

As Kids ‘n Kinship embarks on this new chapter under my guidance, I am excited to witness the transformative power of mentorship, advocacy, and youth empowerment. With a vision that transcends boundaries and a spirit that inspires collaboration, I am ready to lead Kids ‘n Kinship towards a future filled with promise, growth, and positive change. Together, we will continue to make a difference in the lives of young people in our community.
